Large Heads

D&J and the hatsMy brother the thief -- er, dunce -- has brought to light a serious family issue. This issue seems to only have been avoided by the dunce spouse and the hard-working web drudge. We have yet to see if the adorable Mr. Mark will suffer from this problem, but it seems inevitable (I'm so sorry) that young master Jonathan, lover of cold pools and running from place to place, will have to spend his life with it as well. On our first trip to London, we made a trip to Warwick Castle, where, among other exciting things, we were able to try on some fantastic headgear. As you see to the right, while *I* seem to have been able to fit into such protective items, a certain dunce may have had more trouble...

Don't get to thinking that my head is that much more dainty and seemly than his; it was a lucky moment. But no, the helmet pictured atop the dunce's head was NOT child-sized. Just normal-person-sized. IMG_1993.JPG

Please note that even he was not prevented from enjoying the fun of the hats. However, though he may have succeeded in getting the hat to the left on his head, he was quite uncomfortable and -- if he would today admit it -- claustrophobic in the confines of the lovely olde-tyme wear.

And no, indeed, the hair wasn't entirely to blame.

Okay, this is dangerous. Your brother's blog is already funny enough to make me stifle chuckles at work, but add commentary on small children to that sarcastic style, and your's might actually make me snort and guffaw. Even if we're only tenuously related, mindi f I link to your blog? Working the night shift, I need a good laugh. And how on earth have you stayed witty after childbirth? I thought they sucked that all out with the milk ...

Of course you may! I am always happy to share the Vinson wit with all sorts of people. And one of my sources of inspiration is a friend-of-a-friend, Terri, at http://thedaysman.com/terri. Her witty commentary on being a new mom inspired me.

I made it to comment-land! (hopefully...we'll see if this actually shows up...but note I did have to go a few posts down to get it to work, for whatever reason...)

I hear you on the large-head thing. Leo and Audrey both have exceptionally large heads. Now that Audrey is bigger, it's not so obvious, but I still can tell. Aislinn...I'm not so sure, but the fact that a 3-6 month bonnet was too small for her when she was not even quite three months is a bad sign, I'm thinking.
